Report of the President – Lana Jorgensen

Another national has come and gone but the memory of the good times will linger.  I’m pleased to report that Ohio Valley was well represented, as usual.  Among the members having a good time in the sunny south were Nancy & Mike Oehlhof, Cheryl and Ed Heath, Bob & Adrienne Saffell, Fred & Sally Wynn, Vicki Sandage, Neena Van Camp, and yours truly.  During the Breeder’s Showcase, Sally Wynn, Gerald Kyle (a potential new member) and I passed through the crowd distributing bourbon balls and fliers for the March Cluster, “courtesy of the Ohio Valley PWCC”.  We personally invited everyone to come to our shows.  I can’t say for sure about the invitations, but the bourbon balls certainly seemed to be appreciated.

Speaking of our spring specialty, while it may seem a long way off, it’s amazing how quickly time can sneak up.  We all can contribute with our time.  Don’t be shy about telling JoAnn if you are available to help with any part, even if it’s just pitching in to police the motel grounds.

Ohio Valley continues to grow with new members and potential members.  We appear to be thriving and I want to see us continue in this positive fashion.  Remember, no one gains by excluding people.  Only by including and educating can the club and the breed remain healthy.

I hope this message finds you and yours well and I wish you all HAPPY HOLIDAYS!  The New Year is just around the corner and I look forward to seeing everyone at the January meeting.

Treasurer Report—01/04/05

The Ohio Valley club did not receive a dues notice from the PWCCA so an additional $15 late fee will be added to our dues.  Since there are only fifteen affiliate clubs and almost half of them are late in paying their dues, we will ask for a reminder to be sent to us (via e-mail or regular mail) from the PWCCA to prevent this from happening again.

The General Balance is $9,436.80 and the Rescue Balance is $8,874.80.

The new insurance policy has increased from $250 a year to $600 a year.  Officers of the club are not covered under this new policy.  A rebate will be sent from the old insurance company covering the time period of Dec. 8 through April 1, 2005.

Because we were going to lose our insurance due to our rescue program and we wanted to continue providing rescue, an emergency board decision was made to split the cost 50/50 between the general fund and the rescue fund. In the future, should rescue use its entire fund the general fund will be available to rescue.  In the discussion that followed, it was decided that we should pursue looking into different insurance policies over the next year to see if we can find a policy that suits our needs, but at a lower premium.

An audit was completed on the 2004 books and found to be in order.  Marilyn Midkiff completed the audit.

Committee Reports

Motion was made by Nancy Oehlhof, seconded by Bob Saffell that we get input from the club for committees then have an electronic meeting to decide committees and chairs.   Motion approved.

Nancy Oehlhof asked to be replaced as the Talebearers writer for the PWCCA newsletter.

Nancy Oehlhof asked to be replaced as the PWCCA rep.

Robin Stewart reported that the library was lost in a flood.  If it incurs no expense to her she is to replace the lost books with insurance coverage at her discretion.

Board meeting adjourned at 11:45am.
