The Ohio Valley Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club’s regular meeting was held on March 13, 2004, at the Kentucky Fair and Expo Center, Louisville, KY.  The meeting was called to order by the President, Lana Jorgenson, at 2:15 P.M.

Presidents Report

 

Lana welcomed everyone to the meeting and thanked all for an excellent job putting on the show.  It is a grand success!

 

Recording Secretary Report

 

Neena made correction to the minutes as follows:

  • Business Club Cards were done by Judy Nolan

 

A motion was made by Bob Saffell, seconded by Joann Ruehl, to approve the Secretary minutes from the last meeting.  Motion approved.

 

Bob Saffell gave the Treasurer’s Report stating that the latest income was $1,827.90 and expenses $1,375.74 and Club’s total is $8,059.25 and the Rescue has $7,437.06, with a total balance of $15,496.31 combined. 

 

A motion was made by Mike Oehlhof, seconded Lea Jacobs, to approve the Treasurer’s Report.  Motion approved.

The judge for the 2006 Specialty will be Alan Mathews (Craigycor - - Ireland)

Note, Sweepstakes judge for 2006 will be announced after acceptance is received from the judge.

 

Judges for 2005 will be Peggy Kessler, Breed and Donna Newton, Sweepstakes.

 

Legislation - - Neena VanCamp

 

Neena reported that the legislation has been very active recently.  The HB 101 in Ohio is up in any of the 3 states.

 

Librarian/Historian - - Robin Stewart

 

No report.

 

Membership - - Judy Nolan

 

Membership will be voting on Carra Cole at the March meeting.  The new application is ready for all new applicants.

 

Ovation - - Nancy Oehlhof 

 

Nancy asked about having advertisers in Ovation be members of the PWCCA or any PWCCA affiliate club.

 

A motion was made by Bob Saffell and seconded by Joann Ruehl that advertisers in Ovation can be members of PWCCA or any PWCCA affiliate club as they all abide by the PWCCA “Code of Ethics”.

 

Discussion followed.  Motion passed.

 

Amend to above motion made by Neena VanCamp and seconded by Lea Jacobs to strike after “members of PWCCA” to read, advertisers in Ovation can be members of PWCCA.  Amendment to motion passed.

 

PWCCA Reps. - - Nancy and Mike Oelhof

Nothing new to report.

 

Rescue - - Neena VanCamp and Kathy Shannon

 

Neena reported that 6 dogs have been in rescue to date.  Those that have been helping out Neena and Kathy are Jean and Chester, Jody, Lisa, Carol and Robin.  Two non-members have also assisted the committee, Jo Anne Vincent and Karen Neligh.

 

A couple from the Chicago area donated a corgi cart for the rescue to use as a fund raiser.  A thank you note was sent by Cheryl to David Osborne and Takako Oshinooumi, 400 E. Randolph Street, Chicago IL 60601 for their kindness.

 

Trophies - - Marilyn Midkiff

Ways & Means - - Barbara Fisher

 

Barbara had T-shirts done with Nancy’s drawing for the “cosmo corgi”.  They turned out great and are being sold at the 2004 show.

 

Web Page - - Nancy Oelhof

 

Nancy will be purchasing a program as approved by the board to produce files in the PDF format.  The time and attention to detail that Nancy has put into this task is appreciated by all members of the club.

 

Unfinished Business:

 

2004 Specialty

Neena reported that all has gone well for this year’s specialty.

 

Committees for the club.

Lana reported that all committees have been filled with much support from the club to jump in and help out in all areas. A permanent Rescue head needs to be appointed and a volunteer needs to “step up” for this position or rescue will cease to exist as we now know it.

2004 Puppy Match - - Adrienne Saffell

All plans are well underway for our puppy match.  Sally Wynn will judge conformation.  For more details, see the web page.

 

 

New Business:

 

Carra Cole was voted into membership.  Welcome, Carra!

 

A motion was made by Lea Jacobs and seconded by Teresa Fishback to have classes for Veterans at our specialties start a 7 years of age.

 

Discussion followed and motion passed.

 

A motion was made by Kathy Shannon and seconded by Carra Cole that the 2005 Specialty include veterans sweepstakes with two age divisions, 7-10 and 10 and over for each sex.

 

Discussion followed and motion passed.

 

The yearly calendar was discussed and the following dates were submitted for the meeting dates for the club.

 

May 8th - - Puppy Match

July 11th - - Joann Ruehl’s Picnic

August 28th - - Lexington Show

November 20th - - Columbus Show

January 13th - - Cincinnati Meeting

 

Motion was made by Bob Saffell to adjourn at 3:20 P.M. seconded by Adrienne.  Meeting adjourned.
