Board Meeting

Louisville, Kentucky

March 18, 2005

 

The Ohio Valley Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club board of directors meeting was called to order at 4:10pm.

 

Members present were Lanalee Jorgensen, Bob Saffell, Nancy Oehlhof, Pam Hudson, Barbara Fisher, Jean Fordyce and Robin Stewart.

 

Report of the Secretary: Pam Hudson, full text included in the General Meeting minutes

The minutes from the January meeting were accepted as read.  Membership lists were handed out.

 

Report of the President: Lanalee Jorgensen, full text included in the next issue of OVation.  To summarize, Carra Cole is hard at work on the puppy match and has flyers and maps to hand out at the general meeting.  The Club continues to grow, keeping the club fun and alive.  A tribute is included for a non-member who was always there to help the club and will be sorely missed, Marie Joseph, Barbara Fisher’s mother.

 

Report of the Treasurer:  Bob Saffell, full text can be read on the website.  All 2004 members renewed their membership.  The treasury on March 15, 2005 contained $17,603.00 with $8,499.52 in the rescue balance.

 

Lanalee discussed committee chairs and members and the board accepted all new assignments, which can be seen under the General Meeting minutes.

 

Ways and Means:  Barbara Fisher, thanked Nancy Oehlhof for her artistic efforts in designing the 2005 Specialty logo.  There are very few items left and those will be advertised on ShowPem-L and Corgi-L.  If necessary, she will re-order items to meet the demand.  Upcoming projects include watches.

 

 

Motion:

Bob Saffel moved to accept the committee chairs and committee members as presented by the President.  Pam Hudson seconded.  Motion passed.

 

After considering and reviewing the concerns regarding judges contracts, the board decided to provide the following for our sweepstakes judges:

  • 2 night’s lodging for the judge and a guest
  • Banquet dinner for the judge and a guest following the specialty
  • Hospitality dinner the night prior to judging for judge and guest
  • Breakfast the morning following the specialty for judge and guest
  • It will be at the discretion of the board whether any travel expenses will be paid

Stipulations for Sweepstakes judges:

  • Can not judge six months prior to our specialty east of the Mississippi River
  • Must attend and speak at our banquet
  • Must provide written critiques within three weeks of our specialty

 

After considering and reviewing the concerns regarding judges contracts, the board decided to provide the following for our regular class judges:

  • 1 night’s lodging since the Evansville Club provides one night’s lodging
  • Banquet dinner for the judge and a guest following our specialty
  • Hospitality dinner the night prior to judging for judge and guest
  • Breakfast the morning following judging for judge and a guest
  • Travel expenses provided they are reasonable, i.e.: coach airfare

Stipulations for Regular Class judges:

  • Give OV a copy of the Evansville contract to keep with our files
  • Can not judges Pembrokes at any specialties or any all-breed shows six months prior or three months after our specialty on the North American continent
  • Must attend and speak at our banquet
  • Must provide written critiques within three weeks of our specialty

 

With these concerns addressed, Lea Jacobs will contact the 2007 judges to invite them to judge our specialty.  The 2007 sweepstakes judge has accepted our invitation and will be Susan Neave from Canada.

 

The next board meeting will be held at Joyce Park, the day of our puppy match, at 10:30am.  The general meeting will be held after the match.
