Report of the President- Lanalee Jorgensen

It’s a new year and filled with lots of exciting new beginnings.  It will be the year the Ohio Valley Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club will be holding its very first independent specialty.  It’s a year we will be hosting the PWCAA board meeting in conjunction with this specialty.  And it’s a year I have welcomed by becoming Mrs. Bill Law on New Year’s Day at the gorgeous Hotel del Coronado in San Diego, California.

There are so many wonderful things happening, I think we should all take a moment to think of all that the Ohio Valley club has been accomplishing.  Our membership is steadily growing.  There has been a puppy match each year to train & enjoy the young ones.  Our newsletter continues to receive rave reviews, as does our web page.  Our members continue to be visible, active, hard workers in the Parent Club.   We look forward to the March specialty and Parent Club Board meeting.  Best of all, we continue to have a lot of fun!

None of this has been the doing of one person, but of many.  All of you should give yourselves a pat on the back for your continuing hard work on behalf of our club as well as our breed.  This has been and always should be a team effort.  So many of you have so many unique ways in which to contribute.  It is this versatility that is the greatest strength of this club.  I thank each and every one of you for your efforts.

It is you, the membership that makes this club what it is today.

Wishing you all the best in the coming year and looking forward to seeing you all at the January meeting!!

Lanalee Jorgensen

Committee Reports:

2006 Specialty:  Chair:  JoAnn Ruehl, Teresa Fishback assistant chair

Ribbons have been ordered.  Premium list has been proofed and is in Onofrio’s hands.

Adrienne and Bob Saffell are preparing for the dinner and are discussing table favors and centerpieces.  They are taking reservations for the buffet dinner, which will be $30.00.

Teresa Fishback has welcome bags to display.  (they are awesome!)  Donations are being asked to help cover the cost, as they are a departure from the past ones.

Lea Jacobs is taking catalog ads up until Feb. 7, so get your ads to her ASAP.

Carra Cole is taking items for the silent auction to be held during our banquet.  Kristie Sarafolean is selling raffle tickets for the 3 special items.  Pre-specialty price is 25 tickets for $10.

Barbara Fisher and Gerald Kyle are busy setting menu items for the am and pm hospitalities.  They would like cash donations.

Marilyn Midkiff and Lucy Clem will be handing the trophies/ribbons at the show.  Sandy Wolfskill is the chief ring steward and has 2 helpers.

Pam Hudson needs help on Wednesday putting down the plastic for reserved grooming, as well as marking off spaces.

Anyone who wants to help and hasn’t a specified job, see Jo Ann Ruehl or Teresa Fishback.

Carra Cole is looking into having a tracking seminar sometime during the weekend of our 2006 specialty.

No applications to report or read at this time

OVation:  Chairs:  Nancy Oehlhof, Mike Oehlhof

In an effort to have enough copies of OVation, it was decided to order 100 of each issue.

Gerald Kyle moved that the cost of all full-page black and white ads with photo be raised by $10 across the board, $15 for color, and all covers (front, back and center) be raised by $15.

Motion passed.

These changes will be printed in the OVation and on the website.

The available issues will also be put on the website for ordering.

Adrienne Saffell asked that an OVation ad be put in the 2006 Specialty catalog and asked that Nancy Oehlhof have a form available for subscriptions and ordering at the specialty.

Carra Cole moved that we increase the subscription rate to $20.  Chester Fordyce seconded it.  Motion failed.

PWCCA Rep:  Chair:  Sally Wynn

No report given

Rescue:  Chairs:  Neena VanCamp and Kathy Shannon, members Sandy Combs, Jean and Chester Fordyce, Lisa McKay, Carol Stein, Robin Stewart

Neena handed out color flyers and asked that everyone take them to their local “pounds” in order to educate people about what a Pembroke looks like. (Ohio only)  The flyer also lists rescue contacts.

Homes are always needed for fostering as many are in non-member households for evaluation.

A non-member, Cassandra Paul, made a rescue donation and the secretary will write her a thank you note on club stationary.

Purina is now making Rescue packets, similar to their puppy packs.

Trophies:  Chair: Marilyn Midkiff

Marilyn asked to order the Pewter bread plates for supported shows.

She asked that everyone who has not paid for their trophies, to please pay.

Ways and Means:  Chair:  Barbara Fisher, members Teresa Fishback, Nancy Oehlhof, JoAnn Ruehl

Some tee shirts are still available, along with some mouse pads.

There will be some golf shirts for 2006 as well as note cards, 10 for $8 with the specialty logo on the front.

Web page:  Chair:  Nancy Oehlhof

Nothing new to report... all is fine.  If you would like any changes, please let Nancy know.

Sunshine:   Chair:  JoAnn Ruehl

Fred Wynn was sent a get-well card and is recovering from a heart attack.  We wish him well.  Anyone who has been ill should let Sunshine know and we will be glad to send a card.

Two members have people in the service of our country:  Bruce Coyne is in Iraq, his second tour of duty and would appreciate cards, and Kristie Sarafolean’s husband is also serving his country in the US.

Voting for 2006 officers:

President:  Lanalee Jorgensen

Vice President:  Kathy Shannon

Board Member:  Teresa Fishback

Remaining uncontested are:

Corresponding and Recording Secretary:  Pam Hudson (final term)

New Business:

Edward Heath moved that for one time only, we change the March meeting to later in the year to stay in compliance of 6 meetings per year.  Bob Saffell seconded.

Motion failed.

Nancy Oehlhof moved that all raffle and silent auctions done the day of the Specialty be for the general fund.  Adrienne Saffell seconded.

Motion passed.

Lanalee said that she would ask Lea Jacobs to get in touch with the Kentuckiana Cluster contact to ask if we can have a 50/50 raffle for rescue as well as a raffle table at the supported entries.

The Board will meet one hour after judging on Saturday in Louisville, with the general meeting one hour after that.  The meeting will be in a meeting room at the Holiday Inn..
